Criminal Law – Legislative Update

Camera IconThis week, Oregon governor Kate Brown signed two new laws addressing personal privacy this week:

“Upskirting” law – Prohibits intentional photographing of another person’s “intimate areas.”  It amends the previous statute by specifically including photographs of “intimate areas” covered by underwear. http://gov.oregonlive.com/bill/2015/HB2596/

“Revenge porn” law – Prohibits the of posting naked photos of a lover or partner on the internet, without their permission, with the “specific intent” to humiliate that person or ruin that person’s reputation.  http://gov.oregonlive.com/bill/2015/SB188/

Both bills passed through the House and Senate with unanimous support.
