Criminal Law – Legislative Update

Camera IconThis week, Oregon governor Kate Brown signed two new laws addressing personal privacy this week:

“Upskirting” law – Prohibits intentional photographing of another person’s “intimate areas.”  It amends the previous statute by specifically including photographs of “intimate areas” covered by underwear.

“Revenge porn” law – Prohibits the of posting naked photos of a lover or partner on the internet, without their permission, with the “specific intent” to humiliate that person or ruin that person’s reputation.

Both bills passed through the House and Senate with unanimous support.
